[TLDR]
Fawnda Mithrush brings over a decade of experience working in Edmonton’s media, arts, and event sectors. Prior to spending eight years in the stacks as executive director of LitFest: Canada’s only nonfiction festival, she played general manager for Theatre Network and the Freewill Shakespeare Festival. A storyteller by trade, she has managed development portfolios and programming for the Edmonton Fringe, Explore Edmonton, and the Alberta Podcast Network. Accolades include awards from the International Association of Business Communicators, Edify’s Top 40 Under 40 (Class of 2020), the Canadian Online Publishing Awards in podcasting, and inclusion in the 2024 Emerging Leaders cohort for the national Business / Arts Association.
She moonlights as a podcaster, host/moderator, and creative communicator; you may have seen her arts reportage in the likes of EDify, Taproot Edmonton, Edmonton Journal, Dance Current, ACUA Vitae and others, as well as both of Edmonton’s defunct alt-weeklies, Vue Weekly and SEE Magazine.
In 2023, she brought the first-ever Spiegeltent to Alberta, and established an industrial design competition and Artist in Residence program as she worked with Explore Edmonton to reimagine its annual summer fair, KDays.
Born and raised in Edmonton, the city’s cultural ecology is close to her heart. To start a conversation during off-hours, try bringing up dogs, travel, Formula 1, Japanese cookware, circus history, or the last book you read.
